Halley Palmer is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (or, LICSW). Halley specializes in working with people who struggle to fit in, whether it be at work, school, or their community. Maybe it’s because of their sexuality, the color of their skin, or their interests are just different and misunderstood by others. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. She enjoys working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, female, and neurodivergent folks. She utilizes a number of evidenced-based practices, such as TF-CBT and ARC, to help her clients reduce distressing symptoms related specifically to trauma, stress, depression, and ADHD. She takes particular care to learn about your experiences, motivations, and strengths to best inform her work with you.
About Geek/Nerd Therapy
Maybe you consider yourself a bit of a nerd? Then she would also be happy to engage you in a variety of therapeutic activities based around your special interests such as Dungeons & Dragons, anime, or Star Wars. This is often referred to as Geek Therapy. Her personal favorite fandoms are Star Wars, Avengers, role-playing video games (such as Mass Effect), board games, and tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons. If you have an interest she is unfamiliar with she would be happy for you to share it with her!
Education & Experience
Halley received her Master of Social Work degree in 2017 from Boston University of Social Work. Her undergraduate degree is in Fine Art from Massachusetts College of Art + Design. She has been working with children, teens and adults to help them reach their goals for over 11 years in various paid and volunteer positions and loves integrating creative solutions into her therapeutic interventions. Halley is trained in trauma-informed care and treatment modalities. These include Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), the Attachment Regulation and Competency framework (ARC), Psychological First Aid (PFA) and many other modalities. She is also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing and mindfulness training.
